On Wednesday 6th evening, you will be invited for a private visit of the 'Modern and Contemporary Art' exhibition of the Fabre Mueseum, in the city center of Montpellier. The modern and contemporary exhibition presents a panorama of 19th century French art , followed by a presentation of several major figures of 20th century art . Thanks to the exceptional donation of Montpellier collector Alfred Bruyas (1821-1877), the museum preserves one of the most comprehensive accounts of the art of his time: Romanticism, Naturalism, the Barbizon School, and Realism. The collection is completed by the works of two leading Montpellier artists: Alexandre Cabanel (1823-1889) and Frédéric Bazille (1841-1870). The modern exhibition can be read as a history of light in painting, punctuated by Impressionist research, the chromatic freedom of the Fauvist and Expressionist avant-gardes, and the "black-light" invented by Pierre Soulages in 1979.
The evening will continue with a Cocktail Dinner in the Vien Courtyard of the museum, accompanied by the lively Swing Jazz melodies of Marla and the Cool Chicken, performing live. Immerse yourself in the vibrant spirit of the 1940s (and feel free to take to the dance floor!)
